INTERMEDIATE PSYCHOLOGICAL FIRST AID (COMPLEX REACTIONS AND SUICIDE AWARENESS)

A colleague goes quiet. Someone breaks down. Another says something that stops you cold. These moments happen in real workplaces every day. This course prepares you for when they do -- and when they are harder than anything the Foundational course covered.

Description

Who this is for

This course is for anyone who has completed the Foundational Psychological First Aid course and wants to go further. If you are a peer supporter, a nominated well-being contact, or simply someone people tend to turn to, this is your next step.

No clinical background required.

What you will walk away with

By the end of the session, you will be able to:

  • Recognise how complex distress -- including trauma, grief, anxiety and panic -- shows up at work
  • Identify indicators of self-harm and suicidal ideation, and respond with care and clarity
  • Apply the Prepare--Look--Listen--Link framework confidently to more demanding situations
  • Escalate concerns appropriately and know exactly when your role ends
  • Practise your response through realistic workplace scenarios and guided role-plays

About this programme

This is a non-clinical course. You will not be asked to diagnose, counsel or treat. You will learn to recognise complex distress, respond calmly and ethically, and connect someone to the right help -- all within the boundaries of your role.

You don't need to be a therapist to make a difference. But when a colleague is struggling, most people freeze -- unsure what to say, afraid of making things worse. This course changes that. In four hours, you go from unsure to ready.

Knowing what to do is one thing. Knowing how to show up in the conversation is another. This course is where everything you have learned becomes instinct -- and where real confidence is built.
